The purpose of the web site is to publicly and electronically extend the services of the San Mateo County Central Office for the benefit of AA members and anyone seeking help or information for their problem dealing with alcohol. The public aspect of the web site requires that its management and guidelines adhere to the 12 Traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous to ensure that its primary purpose is to carry the message to the alcoholic who still suffers. In order for the web site to avoid problems such as affiliation with outside enterprises, breaking anonymity, commercialization and other multi purpose activitities, the following guidelines for management of the web site have been adopted.
- The web site is operated, maintained and paid for by the San Mateo County Central Office, which places responsibility for its content and management with the Delegates of San Mateo County Fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous.
- Any changes or additions in the content of the web site will be done in accordance with the principles of the 12 Traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous.
- All recommendations or suggestions for changes or additions in the content will be made either directly to the staff of the Central Office or through a delegate. Each suggestion will be reviewed by the Advisory Committee with respect to point (2) above, and will require a simple majority before it is submitted to the delegates for further discussion or approval.
- All changes or additions to the web site will require the approval of 2/3 of the delegates present.
